  “Ah yes Drake Sarges I had missed you while you were gone, I am sorry that your parents passed away. Anyway please follow me I have your homework back in my office. I followed him and saw that he did not in the least care about what had happened to me that day. His attention was focused on the fact that he did not his wife to find out about the affair that he was having. I wonder if I can fix this maybe I can set him straight when we got into his office I closed the door behind him and delved deep into his mind erasing any feelings he had towards any other females and making sure that he was completely loyal to only his job and his family. I released him a few seconds later and grabbed my homework sitting on his desk. I quietly left the office leaving him to call his lovely wife on my way out. I wiped the affair from the secretary’s mind as well so now no one really did now and it never happened, I smiled.

  I felt happy that I am able to help people now. I felt my taint on the principal he used to spend time helping me study now that taint was gone I would keep away from him from now on but I picked up the taint in everyone in the school except for ironically two girls, guess who they are. When I tried to pry into either of their minds I felt a strong shield in place. This was a good chance to see if I can fix the damage I had done to everyone after class. I spent study hall cleansing the taint from everyone it was like I am washing them clean. While I did this I was able to figure out how to block that corrupting effect of my powers, so I would not just happen again now things around here would be quite a bit more pleasant for me. And everyone else I made myself into a little known student in everyone’s minds that way they did not recall any of my stupid efforts as a kid to get attention from them that blew up in my face. I relaxed during study hall in EBD I am glad that the teachers here will be able to start helping kid again like they helped me become the person I am today. I finished my homework for the last month in a half hour. That was the fastest that I had ever been able to do it the solution just appeared in my mind I did not even need to work the problem. I continued on with my current problem how did those girls have shields in their minds they are more than what appears on the surface I know that now. I walked to my locker at the end of the day and Sandy was leaning against it.

  “So how are you Drake? I did not hear much from you today in class. Why are you so quiet? I can help you deal with your grief if you want. I would know what it feels like considering, well, my own parents.”

  “Yea Sandy tell me about your grandmother I have known you for ten years and I have never met her how is that?”

  “Don’t be silly you have met her you just may not remember but I’m sure you will soon Drake.

  “Tell me about her what does she look like Sandy?”

  “Well she is tall like me, around six foot four, and she is athletic like me as well. We both have blond hair my parents were young when they had me so she looks quite young for her age.”

  “Is she kind to you Sandy?” I stared at her as I closed my locker door.

  “Yes in her own way I suppose she tells me to do something and I do it she is in charge that is how it works in my family.”

  “What the hell does that mean Sandy kids our age we have to give our elders shit I do it to my new grandfather all of the time.”

  “What do you mean by new Drake I though he was your grandfather.”

  “He is but he is a new person in my life I do not take to change well you can’t imagine all of the shit I have had to deal with over the last few weeks Sandy.

  “Oh I can guess, but I will say I’m sorry for saying that.”

  “Anyway Sandy I was wondering also what is it about you that makes you want to be friends with me? You are one of the best looking girls in school not to mention one of the smartest why are you my friend that is what I am wondering?

  “It is quite simple there is no one else like you and I feel like I need to be at your side to help you through anything at all and I have Drake I can see you know that is true yourself.”

  “Yes I do I am just curious about you more than I have been in a while but just as a friend so you know.

  “Yea I know that new girl, Azure, I see your eyes on her whenever she passes you in the hallway the real question is what you know about her that makes you want to go out with her like you did.”

  “I can’t explain it Sandy, it is like I am drawn to her for some reason. She is one who is really one of a kind that is for sure.”

  “Fine Drake, if that is how you feel than you should tell her not me. Now I have soccer practice to get to see you later Drake I will call you on your cell.”

  I saw Sandy walk away from me and began to wonder more about her. She said I had met her grandmother but I do not recall it. How can that be I never forget anyone I meet. Maybe I did not know it was her grandmother. I smiled, that must be it. That has to be what she meant. I closed my locker door and continued down the hall. When I turned the corner I saw Azure waiting by the school doors. I decided to walk towards her.

  “I saw Drake coming could he be the one I was searching for? I sure hope not, I needed to find that person soon before it is too late for everyone. I get a warm feeling in my chest when I see Drake, something I have never felt around another person today. When he held my hand for that short time it was as if only the two of us existed together in the same place. I am confused by him he seems strange not like the other kids here at school. I hope he is not the one if he is that would be bad for me I like him far more than I should.”

  “How are you Azure? Are you waiting for your ride home? I did not see you in any classes today.”

  Azure thought to herself, “what should I do tell him I was looking for the one who touched my mind today? It had felt so strange no one had ever dared to do such a thing to me.” She then spoke aloud, “I was busy with a project that took most of the day, so I had to miss classes today. Sorry about that.”

  “That is fine Azure.” I leaned against the door opposite to her to look her in the face. “Do you want to come do something with me or do you need to get home quickly?”

  “I have some time now I guess. Why, what do you want to do Drake?”

  I blushed. “Nothing much I thought we could go and check out my new house. I want to show it to you it is very big. I like it, but it is just too much room. I want to spend time with you there I hope that does not sound too corny Azure.”

  “No not to me. I would like to meet the person who cares for you now. Will he be there as well?”

  “I am afraid not, he is more of a night owl to say it nicely.”

  “Oh ok then Drake I guess that is your ride there. Come on we should go then. I do not have the whole evening to spend with you as much as I would want.”

  We got in the town car that took me to my house in the country. That is the only place to find enough land to build it on Samual had said. It had a tall thick brick fence all around it with a security gate in the front. We arrived. The gate opened for us as we approached this place is a bit much for even me. Who the hell am I supposed to be to Samual?

  “This is a nice home you have now, I did not realize your grandfather is so wealthy Drake.”

  “He is not, this place is mine to be honest, he just looks after it until I am old enough to own it. Legally my parents where rich I guess something I never knew or saw. Then again they never spoke much about what they did or their family even until their deaths. I did not know I even had a grandfather.”

  “I am quite glad that you have someone left who can love you Drake, it is hard to be alone I know that as well myself.”

  “How do you know something like that Azure I mean if you want to share that is,” I smiled.

  “No, it is no secret I have to raise myself. My parents are no longer alive to be honest, I live with some friends of the family they help me a great deal. Drake that is how I know. I feel lonely at times myself, but Drake it is when we feel the most alone that we must look to someone else and find a caring arm to embrace us. That is how I survived my parents passing.”

  “I believe your words Azure I know that they are caring words, thank you. Now come on, we have an indoor pool. Let’s get wet.”

  Her eyes lit up. “I have not swam in some time, but I have nothing to wear I am afraid Drake.”

  “Not to worry Azure I can whip something up from my mother’s things, it might look a bit outdated though, so sorry in advance.”

  “I love retro so there is no need to worry.” She took Drakes hand as he helped her out of the car. “So a two piece is retro Drake I think not young man.”

  “Hey, I said it was old not retro Azure, but you look just fine. Now come on the pool has a diving board set up the height you want.”

  While she was swimming I just sat in the hot tub relaxing the jets helped loosen my back muscles and released the tension. I jumped in the pool when she was not looking then swam deep and grabbed her legs pulling her under I saw the laughing in her eyes as we came to the surface of the pool. I saw that she was blushing I swam towards her and she swam away. I cornered her, smiling, I pulled her under water and kissed her on the mouth it was my first kiss and it could not have been timed better. I let her go as we again rose to the surface of the pool.

  Azure thought, “I was held in Drakes arms and he just kissed me and I let him why did I let him. I smiled because he is sweet and kind and I can like whoever I want no matter who I am.”

  I let her go as we swam to the ladder of the pool and climbed out. We got dressed and I walked her to the TV room holding hand’s the whole time.

  “I feel like popcorn. How about you Drake?”

  I got some from the popcorn maker in the room I brought us each back a bag full with butter I liked mine with salt.

  “So I wanted to play you on my new racing game I made if you are up to it.”

  “Where do you find all of this time Drake?”

  “I will tell you if you keep it to yourself. I do not sleep,” I laughed.

  Azure just smiled at Drake, “That is so corny Drake you can do better than that, like you have a robot or something.”

  “I might have one in the closet never know Azure.” I laughed quite hard at that.

  “Good, come back Drake now show me this game.”

  We played my racing game for a couple of hours then Azure got tired. She called a ride and went home. I traced her to where she lived and it was quite a surprise the house is quite like mine only a bit smaller. It was far more secure though, I hate to admit it, but there is more to this girl than her school records show. She is quite the devious one. I sat outside of the fence in a tree. I used my mind to find her. She was with some other people. Maybe I could use one of then to find out more about her as their shields were weak.

  Azure sat in the meeting room with her advisors and Fara.

  “What am I to do? I like the human but I am not sure it is him Fara, he is just normal to me.”

  “How do you know he is not fooling you highness he is quite devious from what I have heard. Our home planet has been surrounded and we have been forced to surrender. Yet they make no move to invade the empire with their soldiers. I do not know what the Demon Lord wants but he is on this planet for some reason and it think he is this young man you have gotten too close to you must remember your duty he is the enemy.”

  “We all know that if Drake is the Demon Lord we stand no chance before his power or that of his soldiers they would destroy us if we made an aggressive move against him and you all know that.”

  One of her lesser advisors spoke up then. “Do you care for this young man Azure?”

  “Um, yes I do but that does not matter. I have a duty to find the Demon lord and try to make peace between our two peoples.”

  “Ah Azure so that is what you want from me. That is interesting I must admit but why if my kind has invaded your peoples realm then what can I do about it other than let them.”

  “Wait I feel you now you are the one from the school aren’t you tell me who you are please we must meet.”

  “In time perhaps but now that I know what you want it will help me a great deal I admit I am new to all of this. But my kind will not be the ones to start a conflict if what you say is true, goodnight princess.” The man collapsed the alarm went off but he was long gone somehow.

  “I want to talk to you Samual you have some answers to give me show yourself now.”

  He appeared through a portal hearing my call or was it my command.

  “I want to know who I am, tell me now Samual.”

  “Fine Drake, you are the Demon Lord, the ruler of the Demon Empire. You are young yet, but you created us to serve you a few years ago. Beyond that I know no more of your history you will need to remember that yourself Drake. We simply exist to serve you as we were made to do.

  “And what do you mean by we exactly Samual.”

  “The hordes of demons that you made. We are your people. You made us all how I do not know but we were instructed to take care of you here on earth. Where you chose to let your physical form mature but when you dreamed you came to your home planet Demonica, I like the name by the way, Drake anyway the rest is for you to remember.”

  “Wait you forgot to mention that I am in a war with the Star empire. I recall that name from my dreams, so I met their young leader. She wants peace with us tell me why do we fight her kind?”

  “I do not know to be honest that was one of your many plans you are the only one who knows that answer Drake.”

  “I see, well then, I do not know what to think about all of this crap yet but you will not start a fight with them. Do you understand? I need to think this all over, so please leave me for now.”

  “I will tell you that you will need to know that there is a security force here to protect you Drake. One of the things you ordered, I believe that you will need them you will meet them shortly. I will leave as you wish now, good evening my lord.”

  I sat at my big wooden desk and thought about this crap. So it seemed I am fifteen and I rule a Demon empire as does Azure well this is just great I need to do something. But what is the question the best thing to do is let things take their natural course I think.

  Chapter 3

  I went to school and went about my day. I saw Azure this morning but I decided I did not want to bring up who I am if she suspects already that is just too much trouble for me at this point. I walked up to her and took her hand surprising her. I walked with her to my locker and kept holding her hand.

  “I need to know Azure how do you feel about me? I like you a lot but what about you do you like me.”

  “I do not quite understand Drake. Yes, I like you but what do you mean by all of this?”

  “Well I was wondering if you would maybe want to be my girlfriend I hope you understand now.”

  “Um you mean like we are in a relationship is that what you want I do not know?”

  “Of course that is what I mean Azure, but it is up to you that is why I’m asking.”

  “Well I guess I know what that involves and I accept your proposal to be you girlfriend Drake. But you better keep being nice and the sweetheart that you have been so far ok or I will not talk to you again.”

  “Fine I agree Azure, thank you.” I pulled her close and gave her a long hug, as they did not much like people kissing in school to tell the truth. I smelled her lovely hair it smelled of exotic spices.

  Today I was studying for my written driving exam that the school offered as usual I passed the first time. But it seemed Azure was having trouble with some of the signs. She passed, but not as well as she would have liked.

  “I just don’t understand all of this driving crap we don’t drive where I am from Drake we ride animalslikehorses.”

  “Yea I guess that would be confusing if you were raised on a ranch with the four legged animals.”

  “Yea I know I’m glad you understand Drake that is why you are so sweet.”

  “Can I come to your house this time maybe Azure I want to see where you live?”

  “I can’t my
place is such a mess right now I need to clean it up first sorry Drake but what else do you want to do?”

  “I guess we can go get some Mexican food I know a place near here we can go after school I will show you more of what I know on the local road system. After school we drove around a bit in my car, I noticed the driver was a girl who looked to be in her early twenty’s. We arrived at the taco joint a short time later. I had a big surprise, a taco with cheese. I liked the spicy meat they used it was more of a taco stand to be honest I got a burrito for Azure and she scarfed it down. I got a few more for her and we left. I got back into the car after helping Azure in, “so tell me Azure what is your home like?” I handed her a napkin so she could clean her mouth.

  “Thank you Drake not much to say really I do not talk about home much. It is a painful memory for me. I have not seen my home in a few years I have been moved around a lot but I think I will plant roots in this town.”

  “What are you looking for Azure?” I smiled.

  “I want to find someone but I wonder If I ever will I honestly do not know where to start. I know they are in this town but nothing more maybe at our school also.”

  “Why are you looking for this person Azure? I’m just wondering I have met quite a few people but no one like you Azure. Anyway that is not for me to pry into you can share if you want to I have quite a bit of time.”

  “Where are we going to now Drake I loved the food.”

  “Yea I know now we are going to the museum I want to show you the special exhibits they have on the Dinosaurs. They have been an interest to me for quite some time now. I have always wondered what wiped them out, it is one of my personal hobbies that I try and find all of the answers.” We arrived a short time later. “This is the place. I love the old way they used to build these buildings at the turn of the century my home is based on that design if you did not notice Azure.”

  “I noticed that it had an older feel to it but I did not think it was that old Drake. My home is almost a hundred years old I am proud of it.”

  “Now come inside.” I held the door open for Azure and took her hand. We went to the teen exhibit area. “I wanted to show you my work I have an exhibit here that I made it shows how I believe the Earth was hit by an asteroid that killed most of the life on earth so long ago.” I pressed the button that played the video. I saw the wonder in her eyes as she saw Earth hit by an asteroid and the results of it all on in the self-contained 3D exhibit. “I hope you like my work it is still only a theory but it is mine. I got first place in the science fair for the exhibit but I think they just like the tech I used to make it. I love computers! I graduated to them after I got tired of drawing.” I pulled out a folded up piece of paper and handed it to her. “I made this on that first day in class when you sat next to me.”
